The Pula appreciated by 2.8 percent against the South African rand and depreciated by 2.5 percent against the IMF Special Drawing Rights (SDR) over the one-month period to August 2023. It depreciated by 3.3 percent against the US dollar, 2.4 percent against the euro, 2.2 percent against the British pound, 1.3 percent against the Chinese renminbi and 0.3 percent against the Japanese yen.

Over the twelve months period to August 2023, the nominal Pula exchange rate appreciated by 4.8 percent against the South African rand and depreciated by 7.2 percent against the SDR. Against the SDR constituent currencies, the Pula depreciated by 12.9 percent each against the British pound and the euro and 5.2 percent against the US dollar, while it appreciated by 0.3 percent against the Chinese renminbi and remained relatively stable against the Japanese yen.
