The Human Capital Department has a vision to preserve the Bank as an employer of choice in order to achieve its objectives and aspirations.

The Department’s mission, therefore, is to attain and maintain employee satisfaction, morale and professionalism through formulation, implementation, and sound management of human capital policies and management, to increase value through people.  The Department serves as an enabler to the Bank’s business mandate by providing efficient and effective people services, as well as guidance on human capital policies. Through this Department, the Bank of Botswana acknowledges its employees as special assets and strives to promote inclusion, in recognition of the diversity of its workforce in the delivery of its core mandate to achieve its vision and mission. It has adopted Human Capital Business Partnering model and the Department comprises four Units:

Business Partneringresponsible for end-to-end delivery of strategic people initiatives, policies, strategies, programmes, and providing a collaborative link between the Human Capital Department and the business. A strategic partnership and liaison between the business and the Human Capital Department.  Key focus being strategic alignment.

Shared Services: a transactional hub that delivers customer-service and administration of human capital programmes with a focus on efficiency, data and information management, and the Human Resources Information Systems.  Key focus being operational excellence.

Centres of Expertise: specialist function of the Department responsible for the design of appropriate human capital programmes, policies, tools, models, strategies, processes, lead innovation to deliver value for human capital services. Provides advisory to the business partners and the business; and manage human capital projects.  Key focus being program design.

Health & Wellness Centre: responsible for driving the Bank’s occupational health, safety and environmental policy and other health related policies; the coordination of staff health and wellness, prevention and awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and other health conditions risk factors including mental health. In addition, execute curative and rehabilitation care. Key focus being total employee wellness and wellbeing.
