According to Statistics Botswana, headline inflation was unchanged at 3.9 percent between January and February 2024, remaining within the medium-term objective range of 3 – 6 percent, and was substantially lower than the 9.1 percent in February 2023. The constant inflation between January and February 2024 is due to offsetting movements in the annual price changes for most categories of goods and services. Inflation for domestic tradeables increased slightly from 4.5 percent to 4.6 percent between January and February 2024, due to a broad-based increase in food prices. However, imported tradeables inflation was constant at 4.7 percent, in the same period. As a result, all tradeables inflation remained at 4.7 percent in February 2024. Similarly, inflation for non-tradeables was unchanged at 2.8 percent in the same period.

Likewise, the 16 percent trimmed mean inflation and inflation excluding administered prices remained constant at 3.7 percent and 4.1 percent, respectively, in the same period.
