Over the twelve months period to May 2024, the nominal Pula exchange rate depreciated by 4.5 percent against the South African rand and appreciated by 1 percent against the IMF Special Drawing Rights (SDR). With respect to the SDR constituent currencies, the Pula appreciated by 13.1 percent against the Japanese yen, 2.6 percent against the Chinese renminbi and 0.5 percent against the US dollar, while it depreciated by 2.1 percent against the British pound and 0.7 percent against the euro.
The Pula appreciated by 0.4 percent against the South African rand and depreciated by 0.6 percent against the SDR over the one-month period to May 2024. It depreciated by 1.6 percent against the British pound, 1.3 percent against the euro and 0.1 percent each against the US dollar, the Japanese yen and the Chinese renminbi.
