On January 29 2016, the Bank of Botswana and International Monetary Fund jointly hosted a conference on “Small Middle-Income Countries – Raising the Bar”, held at the Gaborone International Conference Centre. Participants included central bank governors, ministers and other senior officials from a number of countries, who looked at the main challenges faced by SMICs in the sub-Saharan Africa, and the policies required to support their transition to high-income status.

A dedicated conference website has been set up by the IMF. This includes all material related to the conference and can also be accessed through the other publications section of this website.
