Under the provisions of the Banking Act, the Bank of Botswana may grant permission for a foreign bank to open a representative office in Botswana. While such an office may undertake activities on behalf of the parent bank, it is precluded from conducting banking business (i.e., accepting deposits and their use to finance other standard banking activities such as making loans).

There are currently no representative offices operating in Botswana.
