The National Summary Data Page (NSDP) provides a useful summary of a range of key national economic and financial statistics. Publication of the NSDP is a requirement for countries that wish to subscribe to the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) that has been developed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in order to maintain consistent coverage and quality of national statistics.

As of end-January 2016, the format for the NSDP has been upgraded, taking advantage of new data dissemination technology, to allow both updates at the time new data are released and access to extensive time series, thus providing a convenient one-stop dissemination platform for many of the most widely used categories of economic and financial statistics. This is been implemented as part of the IMF’s Enhanced General Data Dissemination System (e-GDDS), with Botswana being the first country to introduce the enhanced NSDP.

The NSDP can be accessed through a link on the Bank of Botswana website through which users can easily download data from all producers of official statistics in Botswana (i.e., the Bank of Botswana, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and Statistics Botswana). However, the respective institutions are responsible for the regular update and accuracy of the data which they produce, and enquiries from users should be directed accordingly.
